Red Cross Blood Drive

Description

"Just 5 New Donors"

This summer we are not only trying to reach our goal, but also by recruiting at least 5 first-time donors. The donor base is decreasing with the aging of loyal donors and the busy lifestyles of the younger population. Quite simply, new donors are needed right away to insure a safe and adequate blood supply.

To give blood you must be healthy; at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, not have donated blood in the last 56 days or donated double red cells in the last 112 days. There is no upper age limit. You may not give blood if you have received notification from the American Red Cross or any other blood collection organization asking you not to do so. The procedure itself is very safe - every donation is taken from a new and sterile needle, which is immediately disposed of after that single use. You cannot contract the virus that causes AIDS. It's wonderful to experience the overwhelming feeling of goodness that comes with giving blood. The donation process only takes about one hour.
